Steven Hicks Presents Maryland’s Read Across America Story Palooza Facebook Live Storytelling Extravaganza: The Takoma Park Child Development Center in Montgomery County is gearing up for the nation’s largest reading celebration-Read Across America. Featuring the MSDE Division of Early Childhood Assistant State Superintendent Steven R. Hicks, three and four year old children will enjoy a storytelling extravaganza as he brings storybook characters to life on Facebook Live @MdEarlyChildhood.

Maryland’s goal for the reading event is to encourage parents, families, providers, teachers, and others within our early learning community to do their part to deliver the very important reading message: Reading aloud to children from birth leads to stronger vocabularies and better early literacy skills. As part of Maryland’s family engagement initiatives, the state also is reminding parents of the critical role they play in ensuring children’s early literacy success.
